Tommaso Perazzo was born on May 16th, 1996 in Angera (Varese, Italy). He is a pianistand hammond-organist.He performed in several prestigious Festivals and venues all around the world, such as the Umbria Jazz Festival, the Torino Jazz Festival and the International Chamber MusicFestival of Cervo in Italy, the Bimhuis of Amsterdam and the Utrecht Jazz Festival in theNetherlands, the Moäna Jazz Festival in Spain, the Django in New York City, the BluesAlley in Washington D.C. and the Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo (NY).He has played and collaborated with great musicians such as Flavio Boltro, Fabrizio Bosso, Miguel Zenón, Gregory Hutchinson, Francesco Bearzatti and Nico Gori among the others. Perazzo started playing piano at 5 years old, showing a strong predilection for jazz and blues music; during his studies he also built a solid background in classical music.At the age of 13 he received his first important National recognition, a special award appointed by the Piacenza Jazz Club during the competition Chicco Bettinardi for his“strong instrumental skills in relation to the very young age”.One year later, in 2010, he won the prestigious “Jimmy Woode Award” (dedicated to the bass player of Duke Ellington) as Best New Talent. Among the judges there was also the 4times GRAMMY Award-winning artist drummer and composer Antonio Sanchez.In 2012, at the age of 16, Tommaso won the 2nd prize at the “Concorso Nazionale GianniBasso” for young talents of Italian jazz and performed a piano solo concert in Asti, Italy.In 2015 he moved to The Netherlands, where he studied jazz piano at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam: during the 4 years of experience in NL he participated in many musical workshops, accompanying great artists such as Bob Mintzer, Peter Berstein, Terell Stafford, Ira Coleman and playing in the Big Band of the Conservatory with special guestsJohn Clayton and Wycliffe Gordon. Perazzo also participated in several competitions: in 2018 he won the second prize of the"Keep en Eye International Jazz Award “ with his trio and the first as “Best Soloist”.In the same year he also won the “Premio Internationale Massimo Urbani” in Camerino, Italy, one of the most important awards for jazz soloists, and he released his first record as a leader with his trio, formed by bassist Kimon Karoutzos and drummer Marcello Cardillo. The album, called “What’s coming Next?”, was produced by Musicamdo Records. After graduating in June 2019 in Bachelor of music with 10 “Cum Laude” in Amsterdam, he received a scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music in New York for the Master inMusic program and moved there in the fall of the same year: during his experience at MSM he was mentored by great musicians such as Phil Markowitz, Buster Williams, Rogerio Boccato and Dayna Stephens. Perazzo graduated at MSM in May 2022 and is currently living in New York City.In February 2020 Tommaso was also selected for the auditions at the "Herbie HancockInstitute of Jazz" in Los Angeles, where he had the opportunity to perform in front of a jury composed by Herbie Hancock, Ambrose Akinkmusire and Herb Albert among the others.
